If you know me, you know I LOVE buying DVDs. Unfortunately, ever since leaving my last job for a meager retailer’s paycheck, I haven’t been able to get as much as I want (there’s LOADS of WWE stuff I still need). But, every now and then a good paycheck comes along with very few bills, and that day was today.
Here’s what I picked up from Best Buy:

Spaceballs – The original DVD, not the Star Wars Special Edition-spoofing $20 version. I absolutely love this movie, it cracks me up everytime. Back in the 80s when HBO was just starting out, this seemed to be one of a few handful of movies that they played constantly, and I have to say this is one of Mel Brooks’ best.

Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show – FINALLY! Finally DC’s Super Powers cartoons are getting the DVD treatment. Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show sets the stage for the show that would later be called The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians (which is the show I remember best and will be coming to DVD later this month). I’m pretty sure this incarnation of Super Friends ran on the Cartoon Network 10 years ago or so with all the other SF reruns, but I don’t know if Galactic Guardians ever did. Either way, I enjoyed both shows, but I never could get into the Friends, it was just too corny and poorly animated for my tastes.

The Film Crew: Killers From Space – MST3K fan rejoice! Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy have reunited as ‘The Film Crew’ to do audio commentaries for the typical b-grade movies that might have been found on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I’m not sure how often they plan on doing this, but I’m all for it, as I believe SOMEONE should be smart enough to go all out and give us new episodes of MST3K, I mean, how much could it cost? Maybe these DVDs will be successful and give us more Satellite of Love. Anyway, this is the 2nd Film Crew release (haven’t picked up the first yet) and I believe there’s at least two more on the way.
All in all, not a bad day’s work for me! Notable considerations included the newly DVD released Monster Squad, Super Mario Bros. Super Show Volume 2, Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 – The Complete Series, and Captain N: The Game Master – The Complete Series. All of which will be picked up at a later date, of course.

Yesterday I got the Muppet Show Season 2 (huge muppet fan) and had to force myself not to get the TMNT movie, the newest volume of classic TMNT, and the awesome looking $50 Popeye set. Someday!
Muppet Show Volume 2 IS amazing. Some of the best moments from the show. A great purchase.
Yeah, we watched the first disc last night, the Zero Mostel episode was hilarious. We’re moving on Saturday, so much to do, and it’s hard to pack it away and not watch the rest this week!
I used to love The Muppet Show. I remember when TNT would run it in the evenings, I’d always watch it. I’m not sure if it would be something I could still get into though if I ever saw it again.
The Popeye set would indeed be awesome, I have 2 cheap DVDs releases from a few years back.
I’d also love to have the Turtles DVDs. I like the new pizza box edition of season six. I wish they would’ve released the whole series as seasons and not originally as volumes. I don’t think they started doing “season” releases until they got up to the fourth year, right?
