WWE Judgment Day 2008 Predictions

So, I won’t be ordering this (hey, I only reserve PPV ordering for Royal Rumble & WrestleMania), but allow me to toss out a few predictions anyway…

WWE Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton (Steel Cage Match)
Is there really any doubt? And who even cares since HHH sent Orton packing at the end of RAW? Will the be pinfall/submission only or first man to exit the ring? I imagine pinfalls will count just so Triple H can soundly defeat and permanently squash any hopes of the Era of Orton returning.

Winner: Triple H with the pedigree after a long, bloody match.

WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison vs. ECW Champion Kane & CM Punk
Umm… Does it really matter? Miz & Morrison are fine as champs and Kane & Punk will obviously be the two top stars on ECW with or without the tag belts. But I’ll give it to Kane & Punk just so they can appear on Smackdown more often in the ongoing to get people to watch ECW.

Winners: Kane & Punk. GTS & chokeslam for Miz & Morrison.

Undertaker vs. Edge (World Heavyweight Championship Match)
I was thinking this would be an easy match for ‘taker, because reports were that Vince wanted him to have a long reign. But now wrestling sites are reporting Vince has realized Edge is a better choice for champion. So who knows. Either way, I think this feud is about done and either way there’s really no one for either guy to feud with unless they do the draft.

Winner: Undertaker with the tombstone. ‘taker vs. Umaga at SummerSlam, anyone?

Women’s Champion Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina (Triple Threat Match)
Man, Mickie is like the Jericho/RVD/Punk of the Divas. The fans love her, but management never really wants to give her a hard push. So I can see them taking the belt off of her here and making Beth & Melina the focal point of the division. It’s been awhile since Melina has been treated as a serious contender and I’m guessing she’d be the babyface in a feud with Beth…

Winner: Melina, picking up the scraps and sneaking a pin on Mickie

JBL vs. John Cena
Wow, they’ve really screwed over Cena since coming back, huh? Of course, that probably pleases many fans. I’m so sick of the “let’s hate him because it’s cool” stuff. He’s never gotten his revenge on Orton for injuring him or his dad, he never got the title back, he got screwed over by HHH getting inserted in the WM match. Now he’s stuck in a nowhere feud with JBL.

Winner: Cena with the FU. What ws the point in bringing JBL back, again?

Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels
One part of WWE’s site lists this as an IC match (it was originally listed as such) but the main Judgment Day page is saying it’s a non-title match. That might tip you off to the winner as HBK doesn’t need the IC belt. BUT… With the recent revelation that Shawn was faking the knee injury, Batista might decide to make an appearance in this match.

Winner: Jericho after Batista interferes and hurts HBK’s knee for real
