My 2nd favorite PPV of the year is nearly here! The Rumble match has always been a favorite of mine since I was a kid, as I loved (and still do love) seeing all the wrestlers mixing it up and battling it out. This is also why I’ve always loved the Survivor Series elimination matches and WCW’s old BattleBowl/Lethal Lottery gimmick.
As for the rest of the matches, the only one I think will be of any worth will be Hardy/Edge. It should be a great “story” and sports entertainment-style match.
I haven’t decided if I’ll be ordering this though, PPVs don’t come cheap these days! And it’s a darn shame it’s taking place right down the road from me and I wasn’t able to afford tickets.
Bold is the predicted winner!
WWE Women’s Championship Match
Beth Phoenix © vs. Melina
I don’t think it’s time for Beth to relinquish the title just yet. Her “fan” has just come on board and I think they’ll be working together for awhile, successfully, before that inevitably falls apart.
ECW Championship Match
Jack Swagger © vs. Matt Hardy
The truth is, WWE doesn’t seem to care about Matt. And while that’s not fair, I applaud them for taking a chance on Swagger. The guy has a lot of potential and I see Swagger’s dominance and Dreamer’s quest for gold before retirement coming together by June.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
John Cena © vs. JBL
This is a mid-card match, let’s be honest. JBL/Cena has been done to death and never with very good results. This whole match hinges on whether HBK helps JBL wins the title or costs him the match. I think this is where HBK turns on JBL and we get that Wrestlemania showdown we’ve *ALL* been clamoring for between the two.
WWE Championship Match
Jeff Hardy © vs. Edge
Jeff’s reign has been a wreck, no pun intended. It’s not the “honeymoon” reign most fans would have liked to have seen. HHH will find his way into the Smackdown main event at WM against Edge and Christian will take up most of Jeff’s time. Hopefully, he’ll debut on this night.
30-Man Royal Rumble Match
Winner: Randy Orton
There’s a number of ways this can go. I guess it all really depends on what they want to do with Orton. One rumor is Orton/Cena at Wrestlemania, another is Orton/Austin. The only other option I see in this match outside of Orton (on the RAW side) is Jericho, but it looks like they’re done with his #1 heel push for awhile. Maybe Jericho gets Austin at WM while Orton gets the title shot? If a Smackdown guy wins, it’ll definitely be HHH, but as said above, a main event title match is always reserved for him at Wrestlemania, so there’s really no need to waste this match on him winning.
As of right now, there’s only 21 guys announced in the 30-Man rumble on WWE.com, but I’m sure most if not all of those slots will be filled by the time Smackdown goes off the air Friday night. The only notable who doesn’t have a spot yet is HBK, but it’s not really necessary for him to be in the Rumble this year considering where this JBL angle is going.

I mean triple H is entering #1 so I think he will make it far but be eliminated by Vladimir Kozlov. Also Vladimir and Undertaker will start a feud(leading to Wretlemania).I think Orton will be in the match(near the end) and then stephanie or somebody important tells him to get out right now. Then Undertaker vs. Kozlov[Undertaker] at the end or HBK vs. JBL(maybe because HBK will turn on JBL earlier that night)[HBK]. Or Orton(no stephanie thing) vs. Kane[Orton wins]
