Plenty of cereal to go ’round! Grab a bowl and some ice cold milk!

Urkel-Os (Ralston, 1991)
I was so excited when these came out. Urkelmania had gripped the nation, Family Matters was a TGIF powerhouse and Kroger’s had stocked up on Urkel-Os like a fat, greasy, greedy comic book shop owner ordering for variants. So the cereal itself was strawberry & banana flavored “loops”. Or “Os”, if you prefer, as I’m sure Kellogg’s, the makers of Froot Loops, did. It wasn’t really good. I was really disappointed that a product featuring Urkel on the front in full dance mode could not contain high quality. Strawberry & banana actually sounds like a REALLY good idea (General Mills should mix Strawberry Yogurt Burst Cheerios with their Banana Nut Cheerios), but when it’s the sugary, sweet artificial flavoring, it just doesn’t work. The cereal didn’t last long, I’d be surprised if it made it into ’92, but then longevity was never really the point. Can you imagine still having Urkel-Os around in 2009? Frosted Urkel-Os, Marshmallow Urkel-Os, Fiber Urkel-Os, Raisin Urkel-Os, Chocolate Urkel-Os… the possibilities are endless!
