So long, Saturday Supercade!
An ad for the CBS Fall of ’85 saturday morning schedule. And what a line-up! Anything with Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling, Dungeons & Dragons and Muppet Babies is a definite winner. Vince McMahon needs to wise up and give us that R’n'R DVD set.Does Hogan look awful or what?
He’s like some weird mish-mash of Craig T. Nelson, Dawber from Coach and Dabney Coleman.
Hmm… What’s this Young Astronauts thing? I’ve never heard of it. A quick Wiki-check reveals it was to be a 1986 mid-season replacement but never made it onto the air as CBS backed out of doing an astronaut cartoon after the ’86 Challenger explosion.
And am I reading this right? Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies & Monsters ? The Wiki Gods have smiled upon me again today– this was the one-hour block of two different muppet shows, Muppet Babies and Little Muppet Monsters.
After the first season success of Muppet Babies, Little Muppet Monsters was dreamt up and apparently only ran for three episodes. The show featured three little monsters who, much like the Babies, used their imagination, but this time they did it by pretending to film TV shows in their basement. Those three episodes never went into rerun and there is a full season of 18 episodes sitting around somewhere, never to be seen because Jim Henson was not satisfied with the quality of the show. Man, seems like we should’ve had a DVD release for this “lost” Henson series by now… Color me interested (and badd).
