I continue to flirt with diabetes.
I’ve talked about Russell Stover plenty in the past. I’m not sure if their apple pie candy pumpkin is new or not but this was the first year I’ve noticed it. It seems only natural they they would have apple pie since they already have pumpkin pie and caramel apple varieties. I was going to say they might as well go ahead and release a pecan pie candy but a quick Google search proves that they already have.
The example provided is of one that sat in my car for three days. I bought two (one to eat then and one to blog about later) and I can assure you that the discoloration was not there on the first one I had. Shape is about the same — something that vaguely resembles a pumpkin. Given the coloring and shape, maybe we can pass this off as an apple pie candy gourd? Or potato.
Let me tell you something, this thing smells like apple pie. Even before breaking into it, you can smell the apple. So kudos to Russell Stover for that. The texture is very weird. It’s not far off from looking like and feeling like the peanut butter found in a Reese’s cup except it’s way too sweet and has a grittiness quality to it.
I didn’t care for these at all. They’re pretty gross and I didn’t dare take a single bite from the second one I bought. I used it for picture taking only. Recommendation to avoid.
Now, here’s something I really enjoyed! Starbucks has pumpkin cream cheese muffins. If you’re a fan of cheese danishes (I love them), you should like this. Sprinkling pumpkin seeds on top was a great touch.
So often I end up talking about seasonal treats and end with “it was okay” but I really like these muffins. They made a perfect combo with my salted caramel mocha! Again, not sure if they are new or not but I’ll definitely buy one or two more before fall is over. I was torn between buying the muffin or buying a pumpkin scone but I’ll be sure to pick up a scone on my next visit to Starbucks.
