After a stressful day at work, I headed to K-Mart where I knew they had all of their Christmas decorations out. I needed to be among Star Wars ornaments, white rotating fake Christmas trees, holiday appropriate hand towels and bronze stocking holders in order to sooth my soul and find peace once again.
My hike through their Christmas section lead me to the toys where I found two Hot Wheels not like the others…
I scoured the two or three racks of the Hot Wheels cars. All I could see were multiples of these two same Halloween Hot Wheels. Were there more? Could there be more? I didn’t see any more! I flipped to the back of the package for some type of confirmation as to whether this was a whole series (completely ignoring the numbers in the top right corner of each package).
Aha! There HAS to be more! Pouring through the seeming endless row of Minions Hot Wheels and your typical Hot Wheels (Hey, they brought the color-changers back!), I came up empty handed. Then I wondered: Would it be all too easy for the two other Halloween cars to actually be in the Halloween section?
Across the store I went to K-Mart’s pitiful Halloween selection that they always shove off into the little hole where their eatery used to be. Another aha! There was a whole display of these Halloween Hot Wheels and I quickly snatched up the remaining two cars I needed.
What am I going to do with Hot Wheels cars? I have no idea. I’m not a collector of them (even though I did buy two recent Star Wars Hot Wheels). I’m just hoping they’ll do some more Halloween cars next year.
I really don’t understand their names though. Are they same type of puns? The orange one is called 16 Angels but it slightly resembles a Jack-O-Lantern. The green one is What-4-2 and has some type of electric skull on it. The black & red car is High I.Q. and features gray and white flames. The shimmering purple car is the only one that has a Halloween-related name: Screamliner.
WHY ISN’T THERE A TARANTULA HOT ROD ROADSTER LIKE ON THE PACKAGING???
